Explore our unique outdoor areas and take part in active play activities with a backdrop of intriguing railway and natural heritage.
Your class will split into different groups to take part in activities across the site- beginning at the Railway Garden, walking alongside the Stephenson Railway track onto the cinder path and then to our butterfly meadow area. Children are encouraged to explore the areas through active learning and schematic play. They can take part in movement activities such as moving vehicles around or taking part in ball games. They can transport water around in our water play area and build and hide themselves in our den making activities. They can explore our Woodland Walk Area by collecting natural materials to create a pattern with them or making marks, investigating for minibeasts in our stumpery area and making musical sounds. Wet weather options are available if needed.
