KS1 & KS2: History and Local History, STEM, Art and Design
Permanent
£110 per workshop
Each workshop lasts for 90 mins with a maximum of 32 students. Please email the learning team: learning@stephensonsteamrailway.org.uk to book this workshop. This workshop can be adapted for KS1, KS2 and SEND groups.
Explore the stories of George and Robert Stephenson and the impact of their work in developing the railways. Children will take part in an interactive story, using a textile version of Stephenson’s Rocket. Your class will see and discover more about Stephenson’s locomotive ‘Killingworth Billy’, the third oldest surviving locomotive in the world. Inspired by the Stephensons, your class will develop their engineering skills through observational drawing, then try to create their own train design.
For KS2 Students-this workshop can be combined with the George Stephenson Engineering workshop to offer a full day of workshops.
